This year's dates
Two Thanksgivings, weeks apart.
Canada: Monday, October 11, 2027
The second Monday of October, and a long weekend. Many families eat on the Saturday or Sunday and use the Monday to travel home, so a card sent on the Monday evening or the Tuesday reaches people once they are home.
United States: Thursday, November 26, 2026
The fourth Thursday of November. Most families eat on the Thursday itself. If you are sending before the day, send by the Tuesday: plenty of people are travelling on the Wednesday.
Family in both countries? Make two cards. A "Happy Thanksgiving" that arrives in October reads as a mistake to the American half, and one sent in November is weeks late for the Canadian half.
Before the dinner, or after it?
They are two different cards, and most people who send one would be glad of the other.
Before: for the people who will not be there
A few days ahead, to the grandparent, the student abroad, the sibling working the holiday. Use last year's photos or this autumn's, and say you will save them a plate. With a Card Pack you can make it now and schedule it for the morning of the day, up to 90 days ahead.
After: the photos from the day
The next day, or that weekend. The photos only exist once dinner is over, and they are spread across everyone's phones. Send within a day or two, while people still remember who took which one.

The job usually falls to the host, and it is easiest the next morning, before the photos scatter.
Collect them that night
Before people leave, ask each household for its best two or three. Ask for them by email or AirDrop rather than a text message: a photo sent by text is often shrunk on the way, and nothing done later puts the detail back.
Choose, do not include everything
A free card holds 3 photos; a Card Pack card holds 15. That is enough for the whole table, one of each household, the children's table and the pie. Each is kept at the size you uploaded it, up to 8MB.
Write one line from the house
Thank the people who cooked and travelled. Name one thing that happened. Examples are further down this page.

Put it in the family group chat or an email. Everyone opens the same card, and anyone can save any photo from it. A free card stays online for 60 days, a Card Pack card for the life of your account.
For the family who could not travel
Thanksgiving is when the empty chair is most noticed, usually a grandparent's. Two things help more than extra photos. First, a voice message: 30 seconds, free on every card, so they hear the grandchildren say it themselves. Record it on the day, while everyone is still there.
Second, for someone who does not do links: we print the card and post it to them, from $6.99 (USD), to an address in Canada or the US. The printed card carries the design and your message. The photos stay in the digital card, and the QR code on the back opens it for whoever visits next. Typically arrives in 2–7 days in the US, 3–9 days in Canada. To have it there before the holiday, order by about October 1 for Canada and November 16 for the US. Post is post, and we do not promise an arrival date.

What to write
One specific sentence beats a paragraph about gratitude. Name a person, a dish or a moment.
- Thank you for having all of us. The photos from dinner are inside, including the one where everyone is looking.
- Eleven people at a table built for eight, and nobody minded. Take any photos you like.
- We kept a seat for you in spirit. Here is what you missed, pie included.
- Grandma, the kids made the place cards this year. There is a photo of each one inside.
- To the cooks: thank you. To the people who did the dishes: thank you more.
- Same table, one more chair than last year. Happy Thanksgiving from all of us.
A card, a group text or a shared album
Each is the right choice for something. The shared album is better if you want every photo anyone took; a card is for the best few, with a message, in one link that also reaches the relative who never joined the album.

When is Thanksgiving in 2026?
In Canada it is the second Monday of October: Monday, October 11, 2027. In the US it is the fourth Thursday of November: Thursday, November 26, 2026.
Can I send cards for both the Canadian and the US Thanksgiving?
Yes, and it is worth making two. A card that says "Happy Thanksgiving" reads oddly weeks early, so send each side of the family its own card near its own date. With a Card Pack you can schedule both now.
How many photos can I put in a Thanksgiving card?
3 on a free card, 15 with a Card Pack. Each photo is kept at the size you uploaded it, up to 8MB; a larger file is compressed to fit before it uploads.
Can I schedule the card to arrive on Thanksgiving morning?
